2015 saw an unprecedented increase in the number of refugees and migrants coming to Europe, due mainly to the civil war in Syria as well as ongoing strife in places like Afghanistan, Iraq and Eritrea. Since then, progressive voices in Europe have struggled to agree on how to solve the crisis. All the while, hundreds of refugees are drowning each month as they make their perilous journey across the Mediterranean, and refugee families continue to be ripped apart. In this section, we hear different perspectives on refugees and migration from those on the political left in Europe.
