Kristin Surak is an Associate Professor of Japanese Politics at SOAS, University of London, and currently a Visiting Fellow of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge. Her research on international migration, nationalism, and political sociology has appeared in leading academic and intellectual journals, and has been translated into half-a-dozen languages. In 2014, her book Making Tea, Making Japan: Cultural Nationalism in Practice received the Book of the Year Award from the American Sociological Association’s Asia Section.
